History: the past, and putting events in order (kindergarten)

History is about the past. We learn what came first, what came next, and how life was long ago.

Past, now, and later

💡 The past is done, and the future has not come yet.

The past is time that is done. Yesterday is in the past.

Now is the time we are in. Today is now.

The future has not come yet. Next week is in the future.

🧠 How to think about it

Ask: has it happened yet? Your last birthday has. So it is in the past. Your next one has not. So it is in the future.

🏡 Try it at home

At dinner, each person says one thing they did in the past, today, and one thing they will do in the future.
