Civics: government, rights, and responsibilities (grade 3)
Civics is about how people run their community together. Here you will learn who leads a town, how groups decide, and how people help.
Town leaders
💡 A town's people vote to choose leaders, like a mayor and a council, who make plans and rules for the town.
In many towns, the mayor is the leader of the town's government.
A city council is a group of leaders. They meet, talk, and vote on rules and plans for the whole town. A rule about dogs in parks is a job for the council.
The people of the town vote to choose the council. So the leaders work for the people.
🧠 Let's work it out
- Ask whose job it is.
