Economics: jobs, earning, and spending, sharing, saving (grade 1)
People work to earn money. We use money to buy goods and services, and we can spend, share, and save it.
Jobs and earning
💡 People work at jobs to earn money for the things they need.
A job is the work a person does. Farmers grow food. Teachers help kids learn.
Most grown-ups work to earn money. They use it for food and a home.
Some jobs pay more than others. 5 dollars is more than 3 dollars.
🧠 How to think about it
To pick the job that pays more, look at the two numbers. Which is bigger? Pick that one.
- job
- the work a person does
- earn
- get money for work
🏡 Try it at home
Ask a grown-up about their job. What do they do? Draw a picture of it.
