Pushes, pulls, and sunlight (kindergarten)
Pushes and pulls make things move. The sun warms things up. Let's test both!
Pushes and pulls
💡 A push or a pull makes a still thing start to move.
A push moves a thing away from you. A kick is a push.
A pull moves a thing toward you. A tug on a rope is a pull.
A still ball stays still. It moves when you push it. Then the ground rubs on it, and it stops.
🧠 How to think about it
Ask: did the thing go away from me, or come to me? Away is a push. To me is a pull.
- push
- to move a thing away from you
- pull
- to move a thing toward you
🏡 Try it at home
Push a ball. Then pull a sock across the floor. Ask: which was a push? Which was a pull?
