Comparing size and sorting objects (kindergarten)

Things can be long, tall, or heavy. Here you will compare two things and sort things into groups you can count.

Words for size

💡 Long, tall, and heavy are words for things we can measure.

Long tells how far a thing goes end to end. Tall tells how high it goes.

Heavy tells how hard it is to lift. A thing that is hard to lift is heavier.

🧠 How to think about it

Ask what you are checking. Lifting? Use heavy or light. Height? Use tall or short.

heavy
hard to lift
light
easy to lift
tall
goes up high
🏡 Try it at home

Lift a book and a sock. Which is heavier? Stand next to a chair. Who is taller?
