Add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals (grade 5)

Here you add, subtract, multiply, and divide decimals. The key is keeping track of the places.

Line up the points

💡 To add or subtract decimals, line up the decimal points so each place matches.

Tenths go under tenths and hundredths under hundredths. Lining up the points does this.

Fill empty places with zeros. 4.3 is 4.30, and 7 is 7.00.

🧠 Let's work it out

Find 7 − 2.48.

  1. Write 7 as 7.00.
