Division with remainders (grade 4)

Here you divide bigger numbers and decide what to do with what is left over. The story tells you what the leftover means.

Split the number, then divide

💡 Split a big number into parts that are easy to divide, divide each part, then add the answers.

Pick parts that the divisor goes into evenly. For ÷ 4, 80 and 16 are easy parts of 96.

Divide each part. Then add the answers together.

🧠 Let's work it out

Find 96 ÷ 4.

  1. Break 96 into 80 + 16.
