Decimals: tenths and hundredths (grade 4)
Decimals are another way to write tenths and hundredths. Here you switch between fractions and decimals and compare them.
Tenths and hundredths
💡 The first place after the decimal point is tenths, and the second place is hundredths.
9/10 is 9 tenths. Write it as 0.9.
1 and 6 hundredths is 1.06. The 0 holds the tenths place because there are no tenths.
🧠 Let's work it out
Write 3 and 8 hundredths as a decimal.
- The wholes go before the point: 3.
✏️ What your answer looks like: Type 3.08.
What do you think comes next?
