Feeling and sense words

💡 Some words help you feel, hear, see, or taste the story.

Crash and roar are sound words.

Warm is a touch word. Salty is a taste word. Grumpy is a feeling.

Ask: would I hear it, see it, touch it, taste it, or feel it inside?

🏡 Try it at home

Eat a snack. Use one word for how it tastes and one for how it feels.

💡 Some books are make-believe. Some books teach true facts.

A pig that can dance is make-believe. That is a story.

Frogs lay eggs is true. That is a fact book.

Could it be real? Is it true? Then it is a fact book.

Sort the books in your home into two piles: stories and fact books.

💡 The teller of a story is called the narrator.

If the story says I and my, a character is telling it.

If it says he or she, a narrator tells it.

Look for I. If you see I hug my dog, the one who hugs is telling.
